Hi, my name is Stacy and I just recently found out that my Grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer. We just found out last weekend the day after we all went out to celebrate her birthday. Apparently when she was eating, she had started to choke. She went to the dr. the next morning and they put that tube down her throat to see what was going on. The dr. said it was lung cancer and that the tumor was the size of a baseball. Now this week, we found out that the cancer had spread to her brain and is in the 4th stage. She's going every day to have radiation treatment done and she's possibly thinking about taking a chemo therapy pill. I'm SO CONCERNED AND SCARED for her. I my Grandma so much, and I can't stand to see her go through this. It absolutely breaks my heart. I just wish there was a small window of opportunity for her to recover from this and be ok. (just for everyone's information, my Grandma doesn't smoke. She used to back in the 50's but she quit a LONG time ago.) I am really frightened about this whole situation, and I really want her to recover and be ok. If anyone has any advice (or even just emotional support) I'd truly appreciate it! | |

| Aw. Stacy, I have to give you one fact...Sadly, those in 4th stages of lung cancer have very little chance of surviving. I begin to wonder if a higher dozeage of chemotherapy will destroy the cancerous cells in the tumor better than radiation. If radiation is all those people can do, that's sad because there are better cancer treatments besides radiation. However, I give condolence to you and your family and hope your grandmother gets a pleasant recovery! Always remember hope is never lost. -Emily | |
