Ok so here's the deal my mom never talked to me about periods and cramps and so when I finally got it, I was pretty quiet and shy about it...Now when I get my period and the cramps hit, I feel sooo awful that sometimes I feel like telling my family/ boss/teachers but since I have never really been brought up talking about it openly... I just get kinda nervous and dont end of saying anything I know it is a natural process and all women go through it every month, but how can I be more open about my period when I need to be? Thanks Ladies

Well, to tell you the truth, there isn't a specific way to tell anyone. I think it depends on your family and friends(anyone you feel like telling) and how comfortable you are with talking about things like that. I'm really open with that kind of stuff, I talk about with my close friends, sister, cousin, mom, ect. Basically I think if you're really feeling crappy you should tell someone. You wouldn't believe how good it feels to just talk about something personal or something you've kept bottled up inside you. I didn't use to be as open as I am now, it took a while, but I promise if you just open up you'll feel better. Also your friends and people around you will appreciate it too. It will make people feel more comfortable around you, more close. I told my mom as she coming in to our laundry room with a bunch of clothes. I took me all day, but i did it. So to sum all of this up, tell someone. I suggest your mother or best friend. You can even talk to me. If you read this and want to talk to me, then add me to your friend list ot email me or somehting. If you want to talk to me then I'll find some way to communicate.
Remember- just be natural, relaxed and open. You can't go wrong. Good luck.

| I used to think that getting your period made you some kind of freak. But if you think about it, it makes you into a woman. I talk about it openly to anyone, I don't care if it's some homeless guy on the street who wants to know about it, or President Bush who wants to know, I'll talk openly about it. All women will go through it at sometimes, should be happy you have it. I guess you shouldn't care what people think. If you want to be open, then be open, let the world know! But if you want to keep to yourself, and not let anyone know, then you can do that, too. I'm only 14 and I've have my period for 3 years now, and in that 3 years, I just started not caring if my classmates and teachers knew if I had my period or not. Just think, it's not a big deal at all. | |
