I'm an epileptic. I have been an epileptic ever since I was born, cause I had a brain tumor :( But I would like to know if there are any other epileptics out there like me

I'm an epileptic. I have partial and grand mal seizures. It started a few years ago when I would get partial seizures. They were like this, I couldn't think and I could hear what sounded like a bunch of people's voices in my head. Then I started having grand mal seizures in 2002. I went to a neurologist and he put me on Tegretol. So far I've only had one seizure break through.

Hey, I'm glad to see that someone replied to my post. I think it's cool that there are people out there like me and can relate to what I'm talking about. I also have to go to a neurologist (I have to go next Tuesday as a matter of fact) and I have been on so many medicines throughout my life. Tegretol (or however you spell it ) was one of the first ever medicines that I was on. It helped for a little bit, but then it stopped working for me. Then I had to switch to another one. That happened many times before I finally found the right one. Some of the other medicines that I have been on are Depakote, Dilantin, and others (I am having a REAL hard time thinking of the rest because there are so many!! ) But right now, I am on Felbatol, and it is working great for me :) Good luck with your seizures

Thank you. :) I'm also glad there are people I can relate to. It's so hard being in school and seeing everyone else so healthy. They never experienced a seizure, and how scary it really is. They don't understand when I explain what I have, and the reason I can't drive. I feel like they look at me like I'm really different them, when I'm not. :-/

Awwww . . .hey, guys. I don't think you guys are different at all; you simply have a condition that affects the electrical impulses to your brain. My best friend Brent has epilepsy, so in a way, it affects me too. He takes the medicine Kepra for his seizures, and thankfully, the medicine seems to be working.

Just wanted to let you guys know that you're not alone.

I have eplepsy and boy did it take a long time to figure that out! it started with just passing out all the time, usually not a form of seziure.... or i didnt think so anyways... i got put in the hospitol for a while and found out i had an infection that had spred through my body... after i was out of the hospitol and the infection was heald grand mal, and more sevire seziures would happen..... because id been depressed alot the doctors passed them off as "stress related" one day after a seziure i lost all memory and ended up waking up quite a ways away from my house..... mom had had it at that point and took me straight to the IWK. i got hooked up with an exelent neurological team abd guess what, those "stress related" seziures turned out to be epelepsy! ( doctors are s dumb at times)
now im on medication and have a medic alert bracelet.... just because i have this doesnt mean im going to let it take over my life... im excited to soon be able to get my lisence and come next year im able to move out!
it seemed so horrible before i knew what exactly it was... but now that i know how to cope, what triggers them and that im im safe medication i can go on living my life like every 17 year old girl should! :D

That's okay with me if you are epileptic but I'm afraid I don't have epilepsy. I have seen seizures but I don't see them as often as now. The last time I had seen a seizure was December of 2007. That actually turned out to be diabetic shock once I informed the classroom instructor that the girl had a history of high insulin. We automatically assumed it was a seizure but by getting to know the girl prepared me for that day when she fainted at the teacher's desk.
