HUGE TONSILS!

Hey guys, I always had huge tonsils ever since I was little, and now I'm 18 and I still have huge tonsils. They been hurting me for this past week and I don't know what I have exactly or if I need to take them out.

In the beginning of the month of September 2008 I think I had tonsilitis but when I went to the doctor they said that I needed to take medicine to see if my throat healed. It healed but I still had HUGE tonsilis =/ and I still have problems in my throat, especially when I get sick my tonsilis hurt so much. It hurts to swallow and my ears start to hurt. I really don't know what to do...like should I have them removed or should I just wait untill I get better? I don't know what to do. I haven't been to the doctor for a while now and I'm kinda scared...and my Dad never takes me because he doesn't think it's a big deal...what should I do?

I have the same problem. I have been going to a doctor though and they have been monitoring me for the last couple of months. I will most likely have to have my tonsils taken out. As for them being always big... I have that problem as well my doctor told me that it was just scar tissue build up and it is nothing to worry about... I would say you probably should go to the doctor and see what they think you should do.
