What Is Going On?
Hi guys, I am almost 16. About four or five times a month my tonsils will swell up, and I can't eat or barely breath. I am thinking about getting them removed and have researched it, but I don't know if that is really what is going on. I haven't been to the doctor, but I want to go. My parents aren't good with paying bills, so I don't get to see the doctor. If you have gone through the same symptoms as me, let me know. Also, I am like deathly afraid of doctors' and dentists' offices! I am really scared about my tonsils because I have woken up like five times during the night coughing and choking on them! I can't really eat either. It just hurts so bad to swallow! If you could let me know what I should do and what is going on, I would appreciate it a lot! Thanks!

I think you should go see an ENT, who is a specialist with ear, nose, and throat conditions and one of them is tonsils. If anything, [I'm not a doctor.] you should have them removed if you can't eat or if you stop breathing because this can become a life threatening condition if you keep on letting it go. If your parents have good insurance, then maybe you will get by. If not, I suggest you make some sacrafices. I don't mean to scare you, but it is the darned truth. Good luck! -Emily
