Brain Tumor
My best friend recently got diagnosed with a tumor that is growing inside of her ear and pushing on her brain. She is only 25 years old and is currently in her first year of teaching. The tumor is now the size of an egg, and her doctor predicted that she has had the tumor for about three years. She now has to get the tumor removed which she is very nervous about. She is going to be gone from work for eight weeks. This is difficult for her because she really doesn't want to leave her class. Also, she is getting married this summer and was told from the doctor that she most likely will lose her hearing and her facial nerves of the side of her face where the tumor is will become dead. Has anyone had a surgery similar to this? I am scared for her.

I have had surgery done to remove a brain tumor, but I don't remember any of it 'cause I was only 8 months old when I had the surgery. My parents told me that my tumor was the size of a golf ball and it was benign. I still have the scar on my head from when they did the surgery. As I grew up, I developed a condition called Epilepsy because of the scar. I have seizures, and have some learning disabilities. I can function normally, I just have to take a crapload of medicine everyday to keep my epilepsy under control.
Ok, enough about me. I REALLY hope they get the tumor out ok and everything is normal with her. I hope everything goes well.

my friend had a cancerous tumour in his brain. They are still working on it, but have gotten rid of 90 percent I believe. he was very tired all the time from all the treatments, but still is able to remain happy and upbeat. just be there to support her, and even if their is some reprecutions, its better than some outcomes. My friend also gained some weight from the medications, so that could also be something you may want to inform or support your friend with. I hope it all turns out well. so young too...

I've never had a surgery like that but I can tell you it will be a lot more painful if you let her die from this. The more pressure there is on the brain, the more deadlier it becomes. I'm sorry to hear she is going through this. At least she'll have half of her hearing and not all lost. Don't be scared because I am sure it is a relief to hear she has the chance to be alive. Take care!
