Next Monday the 5th I'm getting my impressions done and getting spacers put in. Then the week later, Monday the 12th I'm getting the actual braces. I'm so scared what will they do and how long will they take. I want to know what the best colors are because I've heard that they can go off color. I was also wondering what the impression is like because I've also heard it makes you feel sick and you have to breath though your nose. I was wondering if anyone could help? It would be really great if anyone could possibly hand me over a few tips? Many thanks.

Hey, Leah. When I got braces, my orthodontist told me about the different kinds of braces there are. There's silver, which are best. There's color, which have to stay on longer because theyre not as strong. And then theres clear, which has to stay on longest because theyre weak. Your choice, I chose silver to get them off quickest. Everything is and doesnt take more than 5 minutes if you do it right. You can breathe fine and also you feel fine as well.

Impressions can be no big deal if you have the right person doing them. It's like getting a lot of cold goo put in your mouth but just keep your head level and breath through your mouth and not your nose! When they do the top impressions you wont really be able to breath through your nose and that's when most people panic. As for spacers and braces, Space might feel like you have something stuck in your teeth but it shouldnt bother you after a few hours. Depending on how crooked your teeth are, you will be embarrassed to show anyone your braces but only for the first month usually. Try to stick with colors that you look good in, for example if you look good in blue clothes get blue rubberbands. Stay away from white 'bands because they will make your teeth look yellow. Eventually you will learn to your braces.
