Dermatology
I will best advise you to not to go to a dermatologist, only if it was a last resort. Most of these dermatologists don't go trial and error. It is usually to throw someone on and off of medication. There are some dermatologists that pursue other options rather than throwing people on and off of prescriptions. If you go too far quickly, you can mess the human's chemical balances in the mind. There are other options besides medication. What can we get through these doctors' heads? Did they get their diploma offline? That's why I say don't trust a dermatologist. They have obsessions of those huge pimples and want to inflict pain on others, so the dermatologist can get it done fast.

I can see what you are talking about. I would do the same thing as you if there was no other option.

im a medical esthetician and i feel like at times dermatologists can help and other times they are to conventional and just want to take the easy way out and put the clients on meds to help clear up the skin. if u have acne, and yet dont want to see a derm, try going to a medi-spa or spa to get a facial or chemical peel. make sure the esthetician/skin therapist is well trained first tho. I went through a really intense course first before being able to perform chemical peels on clients. and we perform light-med chemical peels, none of the really harsh chemical peels the doctors use, so most of the time , your not red and itchy, or peeling, like you do from the dr. chemical peels, but yet you can see a major difference in your skin doing light 10-20% glycolic peels or 12.5-25% salicylic peels with a estheician over the course of about 6 weeks!

I wouldn't NOT go to the derm. But concider everything they tell you. If they force the laser, don't sit back and accept it, think of other, less painful options. Ask about diet. Ihave done EVERY pill, cream and laser. NOTHING has worked. I have cut dairy out of my diet and my face has FINALLY began to clear. After 13 years.

What are the other options for taking care of your skin? You have obviously tried something else and it has been successfull. Please share!!!

I only go to the doctor when I have a real problem and if I had acne real bad I would go to a dermatologist. No-one has to look that bad and a dermatologist knows what they are doing. Some of those 'off the shelf' medications really burn your skin and your worse off than before you started using them.
