Do You Think...
I have been to a number of shrinks. The first one I went to my parents actually took me there because I had bad grades! I'm not even kidding here; it's insane that this woman was actually promising them results! But anyway, obviously she was in it for the money. The second one I went to, I even TOLD her I was a self-injurer, and she didn't even care. My reason for posting this question on this section is because a lot of doctors recommend seeing someone for anxiety, but in your opnion, do they really help, or are they just these people who want to brag becuase they think they have figured out the science of pyschology and want to make money doing it?

You are right to question these "shrinks".

A lot of people don't realize that in modern day society some of the people who are supposed to be there to help you, are really just there because they happened to make the grade in college, and it's making them money.

However, there are many people out there who are genuine. They really want to help others. I know where you are coming from because I myself have attempted suicide on more than one occasion, and I continually find myself back in the same vicious cycle.

Not only do YOU need to feel comfortable with your counselor, but you yourself must be ready to feel comfortable about yourself in order to speak freely to the person who is trying to help.

It might take time to find the right person to talk to, but trust me, you will find the right person. Everyone is different, and everyone has their own way of doing things. It's all just a matter of patience, honestly, and WANTING to make things better.

Keep holdin' on.
