Horse Show Alcohol
This weekend I was at a horse show. At about six o'clock or so, the adults (as in my trainers, my friends' parents, and various clients) all started drinking up right by the ring where the horses were.

My friend's mom was so out of control, and my friend was mortified. When we returned to the barn, things started getting scary. My friend's mom hopped onto the golf cart and started driving around, narrowly missing many dogs and people. With nearly all of the adults completly wasted and it now being about nine o'clock at night, us kids started getting nervous about going home. Luckily for me and my friend (whose mom had been the drunkest), her dad came to pick us up.

However, my friend Michaila was made to get a ride home with one of the adults who had been drinking. She didn't have a choice and reluctantly got in the car. Also, another one of the people who was drinking drove another SUV full of people back to their hotel. We passed them on the way. Luckily, no one was hurt that night, but I have never been so scared for the people I care about most. This is only the start of the horse show season, so if anyone has any advice or comments for the next time that this happens, please share. Thanks a ton.

Wow thats terriable. It sounds like you and your friends have more common sinse then the adults do. I would tell your mom how you felt about that and how scared you and your friend were. If they all got drunk and started doing dumb things they could of got kicked out of the horse show, hurt some people and or got a DUI if some of them drove home. Its really dangerous and they should think about that. If I was you and they do that again I would refuse to get in the car with them and try to find someone that is sober to give everyone a ride home. Its better to be safe then sorry one lil mistake could cause someone thier life.

You need to talk to these people. To your friend's mom, to your own mom. It is very inappropriate for parents to get that wasted around their children, or any children. Never get into a car with someone who has been drinking. Accidents do happen. When someone has children, casual drinking is ok, but getting wasted is not.

My advice: open yourself a bottle a Wild Turkey and forget your troubles. If they's can't drive while drunk, they's can't drive at all. If you don't wanna go home with them, find a nice place to pass out 'till morning.
