Jaw problem
My jaw sometimes clicks when I eat food or open my mouth too wide, this is the only symptom as it doesn't hurt or get stiff . I've had this problem for a year now and have never really given it much thought until I read this page as I was told it was passed on as my mother also suffers from the same thing . I've heard other people on the page discuss TMJ? Could this be related to what I have described and if so , is it a serious problem? Hopefully some of the website's readers can give some insight on the matter. Thanks a lot

Actually, it was good advice to tell you to stop chewing gum. TMD (a disorder of the TMJ) is often caused by too much chewing -- ie, grinding your teeth in your sleep or chewing gum too often. You probably should cut back, unless you're grinding your teeth in your sleep -- then that's probably the cause and not the gum.

Try eating mints instead, it'll keep your breath fresh without hurting your body.

AHh i have the exact same problem and it sucks!! It started out when I just ate like chewy foods but now its everything. So, my mom was a little worried and took me to the doctor. I swear to God my doctor is an idiot though because the advice he gave me was to stop chewing gum! It hasnt helped me yet but maybe it will help you?! haha

My jaw does the same thing! When I had strep throat last year, I couldn't even open my mouth it was so sore, and now it hurts if I open my mouth real wide. Sorry I couldn't help you, but if you find anything out, e-mail me at MegAngel214@TeenFX.com. :)
