I Have Feet Problems!
Okay if you want to hear about a foot problem, here's my story. It started almost two years ago when the toenail on my big toe became ingrown. However it grew in where the nail began, not where the nail ends which is where most people get ingrowns. So I went to the doctor and had it removed and she said that if it came back she would just do a permanent solution with acid. It came back but this time in the other foot too. I went and got acid on the roots hoping it would prevent the sides of the nail from growing back ever again. Once I got home and the Novocain wore off I was in excruciating pain. We called the doctor and I came back in for shots of Novocain into my ankles to calm the nerves down. When that Novocain wore off, the throbbing pain came right back. At this point, it was very unusual. The doctor gave me more Novocain in the ankles. But after that, the nerves in my feet had a horrible reaction. I suffered constant throbbing pain. After a few weeks of this, I was referred to a top neurologist at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. After months of weekly visits and many tests, he found that I had the early symptoms of RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). This totally freaked everyone out because this is a very disabilitating disease. I was then sent to a physical therapist. I had a rented machine where I would hook probes up to my legs and send shocks throughout them. All I wanted was to be able to play volleyball in the fall. This was the summer, and practice was approaching. Finally, the pain in my ankles went away. A few months went by, and I played volleyball. Towards the end of volleyball I noticed my toes were ingrown once again. I went back to the podiatrist and I was told that it only came back to 2% of the people that had acid put to the roots. Of course I was part of that 2%. I still have ingrown toenails and I am waiting for them to grow out so I can have a larger and hopefully permanent surgery on them. Now that's a foot problem for you!
