broken nose
ok well i have a broken nose and i've had it for 5 years now and just found out that i have a broken nose. My mom is going to see if they can fix it this summer. and my nose is kinda big so i asked my mom if they can like give me like plastic surgery on it when they fix it and make it smaller and so it will look better with my face and so i will look better next year when i go to a different school. she said i can if i want it. so should i get it? and how long does it take my nose to heal? and any advice on stuff to advoid from infecting it?

I broke my nose seven times and it was so crooked and bumpy that i just had a corrective phinoplasty to fix it. Although i just wanted it back to the way it looked before id broken it, you do have the option to get a totally new nose. I had the stiches on the inside of my nose, and the only bad part of the experiense was the anesthetic. i had gone under the knife once before for a burst appendix and most of my anesthetic had been given to me through IV. i am terrified of needles, so this time i chose just for mask, and let me tell you, that was a big mistake. Nyways, since you are realllly self consious, go to a doc and ask all of the Questions you have. I :)d my results

I felt like going out the day I got it done, and I had pretty much no pain and that's amazing if you think of what they do. Seriously, 4 days and all the bruises were gone, even the yellowish tint that comes after the bruises. That girl obviously only got her information from somewhere she read it, not first-hand. The cuts are sewn up with stitches and they are hardly noticable inside your nose, but the dried blood that crusts on it makes them kinda tander. I had open rhinoplasty with the cut made on the outside and I took my stitches out after a week because I couldn't stand them. As for the "deep" bruises, the reason you even bruise is actually because the blood automatically goes to the loose, soft tissues under your eyes. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt, the bruises are just pockets of blood. The only thing that kept me from going to school was the splint that I had to wear on my face for 8 days after surgery. The girl who replied earlier probably never had it done. They tell you what usually happens to prepare you for the worst, but the nurse at the hospital said young girls heal up so quickly and nicely. It was really just a routine thing.

EXCUSE ME? 4 DAYS??? umm, no, it takes MONTHS. there are bruises, LOTS of them, and there are cuts, DEEP ONES, and like, they take the skin off, re do the bone, break your nose more, and all that. it takes a LONG time to heal. which would suck if you had to go to school soon after you got it done. I think you should ask these questions to the doctor, not random teenagers on this web site, and no offence to her, but the girl below me's friend did NOT know what she was talking about. or perhaps she didn't have an actual "nose-job"

I read an article in a magazine and it said that it took the girl 4 days for her nose to heal most of the way.
