On Sunday, I pierced my ear myself. I used a safety pin, in the upper cartilage of my ear. I used peroxide first to clean my skin, then I put the pin over flame, then wiped that with peroxide then put that over flame again. I numbed the surface and then did it. I put a potato behind my ear so I didn't poke myself in the head.
I just want to know if this is a bad thing to do. If anyone has done it like this and it worked out just fine. I am just scared of infection. I wash it out every morning and every night with peroxide. I just really need to know if I am up for big problems in the future.

go to clairs and buy some ear cleaning stuff. they have it specially made. I dont think peroxide shoudl be used tho. Someone told me not to use it when I did my ears myself. I did the bottoms tho...9 times total. But i kept 5 of them. I dont think ide do the top, it would kill. If it does get infected then you should just take it out. There is a REALLY good chance it will too. All of mine have...but I used the stuff from Clairs and its fine. OHHH!! my friend's ears got infected and she wanted to keep the hole. So, she took a needle and thread and tide a little loop in her ear. ((without the earing in)) hope i helped!! good luck

Okay, piercing your ear that high up is extremely dangerous. It can cause sick infection and you can even hit nerves where you'll become paralyzed. Everyone I know that has done it themselves grows little bumps behind their ear. It is pretty gross. My suggestions to you are the following: Don't take the earring or safety pin or whatever the hell you use out for atleast a month. You should clean around it and stuff...and especially after you wash your hair or whatever. I have pierced a few of my earrings myself, but to make sure they don't get infected and start to hurt like a you know what, make sure you take care of them properly.
